Facilities and Compliance Manager

Allam Marine is accepting applications for an experienced Facilities and Compliance Manager. This is a newly created post as part of an expanding team, based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing, distribution and office building in Melton, East Yorkshire.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role would suit an experienced and highly motivated professional with a track record of excellent facilities and health & safety compliance management.

You would be joining Allam Marine at an exciting time in the development of the company, with ambitious plans for growth and a number of upcoming projects providing the opportunity for a varied brief.

Job Description

Your key direct responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive risk register, taking ownership of risk assessments and safe working practices across the business.
  • Maintain an asset register, monitoring the suitability and maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Manage near-miss and accident reporting, including supporting with relevant investigations and improvements where necessary.
  • Ongoing and reactive facilities maintenance, infrastructure projects, and annual compliance work.
  • Take responsibility for relevant legislation relating to the facilities and business activities.
  • As the ‘responsible person’, you will manage the day-to-day health & safety of the business, helping to maintain a good understanding and culture of safety across the business.
  • Chair a regular Health and Safety forum, including key colleagues across the business to inform colleagues of policy changes, and provide advice on all matters relating to safety, including training requirements.
  • Implement and maintain a contractor management process, including assessment of RAMS and support with the process of booking in visitors and goods vehicles to site.
  • Responsible for waste management, including environmental compliance.
  • Take ownership of general site presentation, including managing cleaning and grounds contractors to maintain consistently high standards.
  • Day-to-day management of the IT contract (external provider), providing support to colleagues across the business and centralising the ordering of IT equipment and advising the Head of Operations on opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings where appropriate.

In addition, you will play a supporting role in a number of strategic projects, including:

  • The development of an ongoing environmental strategy to minimise the carbon footprint of the business and work towards medium and long term sustainability.
  • Support with any future development projects at the site, including alterations / improvements to existing infrastructure.
  • Working towards achieving the ISO9000 quality standard.

Person Specification

If you’re the successful applicant you’ll have a keen eye for detail, with an in-built default setting of doing things properly. You’ll be highly organised and efficient, and you’ll get a thrill out of providing an exceptional level of service to our internal and external customers.

Quite a lot of the work you’ll be doing to begin with will include implementing new systems and processes, so you’ll need to be self-motivated with a good understanding of how to prioritise workload and manage your time effectively.

Essential:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management.
  • Credible management experience in an equivalent role.
  • A good understanding and experience of Health & Safety management, with at least IOSH level qualification.
  • Demonstrable understanding of contractor management, contract negotiation and ensuring best value.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • High levels of written and verbal communication skills.

Preferable:

  • NEBOSH
  • Experience of an industrial manufacturing or logistics setting.
  • Familiarity with the revised Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015.
  • Familiarity with the use of relevant FM project management software (Mainteno, Sypro etc.)
