Mechanical Design Engineer

Allam Marine is accepting applications for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. The role will be based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing, distribution and office building in Melton, East Yorkshire.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with an excellent and proven track record in designing to improve smooth production initiatives, help reduce waste and improve cost savings across the production facility.

You would be joining Allam Marine at an exciting time in the development of the company, with ambitious plans for growth and a number of upcoming projects.

We’re looking for a team player who understands the importance of good culture within the work place – you’ll have a strong work ethic, an understanding of safe working practices and innovation at your core.

Job Description

Your key direct responsibilities will include:

Design and product development.
Working with internal production teams and suppliers.
Creating bills of materials (BOM).
General engineering admin and housekeeping duties.
Use of Cim50 (Or Sage Manufacturing).

You will play a supporting role in a number of strategic projects for which the manufacturing process forms an important part, including:

Working towards achieving the ISO9000 quality standard.

Person Specification

If you’re the successful applicant you’ll have a keen eye for detail, with an in-built default setting of doing things properly. You’ll be highly organised and efficient, and you’ll get a thrill out of providing an exceptional level of service to our internal and external customers.

You will have a proven track record as a Mechanical Design Engineer or in a similar role. Having an understanding of Diesel Generator assembly would be an advantage.

Essential:

Working knowledge of Auto Cad LT.
Experiencing of a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrable experience of process improvement.
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management.
Full driving licence.
Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
High levels of written and verbal communication skills.

Preferable:

Experience of using Solidworks (3D design not essential, and for the right candidate training will be offered).
Direct experience and knowledge of diesel generators and/or associated industries.
